"If you could combine Nanci Griffith and Emmylou Harris, you'd end up with Kate MacLeod."                  â€‹-  Matthew Lawton, Totally Adult Living Magazine

Kate "channels the spirit of the great Carter Family classics"   â€‹ -  Sing Out! Magazine

"Kate's music is honest and she delivers her message true and clear. This is out of the ordinary folk music."   -  Roots Music Report

Kate has been awarded as Best Violin/Fiddle Player and Best Female Songwriter for 2014 by the Intermountain Acoustic Music Association in her home town of Salt Lake City, Utah.

She will perform a concert at 8pm in the evening on Saturday, July 5th.  That afternoon from 3pm to 5:30pm she'll conduct a fiddle workshop.

Both events take place in the Community Room in the parsonage house of the Meriden Congregational Church, located at the top of the hill on Main Street in Meriden, NH.

Kate is a descendant of Leopold Auer who taught one of the most acclaimed violinists in the world, Jascha Heifetz at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory.

Kate MacLeod teaches songwriting and fiddle workshops in schools, concert outreach programs, summer camps and at music festivals. She designs workshops for the needs of an individual event and offers a variety of subjects. Private music lessons are also available for acoustic guitar and violin/fiddle.

Kate MacLeod has many years of experience in teaching music lessons for beginners to advanced players. She is an excellent teacher to introduce your child to the world of music; she also offers lessons for more established players who want to explore their instrument and expand their repertoire, specializing in improvisation and fiddle playing.

She has taught at such prestigious places as the Northwest Folklife Festival in Seattle, and the Children's Music Conservancy in Salt Lake City.

Kate MacLeod's highly acclaimed songs often precede her as other artists sing her songs on stages across the country. Now is your chance to hear this songstress who creates notably singable songs such as "Lark in the Morning", "My Forsaken Love" and "New Homeland"; songs that compel periodicals such as Sing Out Magazine to claim that Kate MacLeod "channels the spirit of the great Carter Family classics."

Although Kate has raised a family and is proud to speak for the experience of maturity, twenty-somethings are learning her music and audiences are beginning to catch on to the versatility of her repertoire. She has been compared to many influential artists of her genre including Joni Mitchell, Nanci Griffith, Richard Thompson and Emmylou Harris. Since her debut recording her songs have been covered by other artists from California to the Czech Republic in folk, bluegrass and roots music genres including artists such as Mollie O'Brien, Laurie Lewis and Rose Laughlin. Her latest solo recording was produced by Grammy-winning musician Tim O'Brien from which the song Something Left You Living was featured on NPR's syndicated song showcase "What's in a Song."

Her brand new release is called "At Ken Sanders Rare Books" and features Kate's original songs influenced by books she has read.  Ken Sanders is one of "Antiques Roadshoes" principal book appraisers, and his shop is a favorite place to hang out for Kate.

She is a sought after vocalist, fiddler and guitar player, working regularly with other artists. Her fiddle playing is derived from the study of many traditional folk styles in addition to classical training from where she has developed a unique expression with the instrument. Originally from the area of Washington DC, she has migrated across the country, living thirty years in Utah and spending time in the great Pacific Northwest.
