Lodging Options

Gender-Seperate Dorm Style - $925

There are three beautifully appointed, open designed cabins that overlook the Tarqui Valley located on the side of the mountain.  They are a very short, easy walk to the Main House, Music Room, and grounds.  Each has its own bathroom and shower.  These cabins can sleep four persons, either in four separate beds, or if two couples wished to both share the cabin.

Shared Two-Room Cabin - $875 (double occupancy)

Adjoining the Music/Living Room there is a cabin with two floors.  The top and bottom floors are ideal also for couples whether one or both are taking the classes. There is no bathroom in this cabin, and students using this cabin would share the bathroom in the Main House located across the courtyard.

Private Cabin - $875 (double occupancy)

Adjoining the Music/Living Room on the other side there is a cabin that can accommodate a couple.  There is no bathroom in this cabin, and students using this cabin would share the bathroom in the Main House located across the courtyard.

Main House - $1,050 (double occupancy)

There are three bedrooms on the second floor of the Main House.  They share a common bathroom on that floor as well as a small balcony overlooking the pond and valley.

Non-Student - $700

Folks are invited to join their partners and participate in all of the activities

accept being in the classroom settings with the students taking the classes.

They are expected to make use of their time on their own during the classroom sessions.  They pay this fee in all settings, sharing spaces where double occupany is required, or they may share one of the dorm-style cabins.

What's Included

The cost of your registration includes:

  • Ground transportation to and from the Cuenca airport, or in the central city.

  • Lodging from Sunday's arrival until the following Saturday morning.             NOTE: There is an option to stay in the city following the Saturday night concert, available at a nominal fee.

  • Three meals per day, Monday through Friday.  There will be a welcome meal and reception upon Sunday's arrival, and breakfast on Saturday morning before departure.

  • All instruction classes by your teacher. Lessons are two hours sessions, with classes at 10am and 2pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.  There is only one lesson on Wednesday morning.

  • On Wednesday afternoon, everyone will have the option of going to the nearby Piedra de Agua Hot Springs and Spa where you can soak in the volcanic mineral waters, or take a mud bath (there is a fee ranging from $12 - 35).  We are looking into trying to get us a group discount.

  • Or, if you prefer, some may choose to go into the old, central district of Cuenca with its gorgeous Spanish influenced architecture and shops.  There you might like to ride in a double-decker guided bus, (only about $5 - 10) one of which makes stops at a famous Ecuadorian (Panama) Hat shop.  You choose how you'd like to spend the afternoon bringing along a picnic lunch.  Transportation to either is provided.

  • Dinner Wednesday night will be at an Ecuadorian restaurant in the city and is included in the price.

  • Wine will be served for any who wish at the mountain-top dinners each night. Alcohol will NOT be included with the Wednesday night dinner at the restaurant in Cuenca, but may be purchased separately.
Note:  One of the things that is NOT inexpensive in Ecuador is heavily taxed alcohol at the stores.  Prices for a drink at bars and restaurants vary from cheap at hostels and 'locals places' to big-city prices at Gringo restaurants.  We will have alcohol on hand at the bar in the main house that may be purchased at cost by the glass, which will be inexpensive using an honor system.  You may bring a m
aximum of 3 liters of alcoholic beverages with you in your luggage.
